General Motors has something to be happy about – the Chevy Beat Concept has been chosen the global car for 2011. Introduced at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, this micro car has already made an impact on the auto-industry. Like the Sideswipe Corvette Stingray Concept, the Chevy Beat is awaiting a big-screen debut in the Transformers sequel – putting it square in the public eye.

The Chevy Beat Concept (aka “Spark”), GM assures, will have more room than a traditional micro, coupled with high-end features and a futuristic style. Hidden door handles and a wind-swept exterior give the Chevy a sleek body. The rear axle is recessed to generate more space, and 1.2L engine gives the small car ample kick. At 40 mpg, the Spark will likely be one of the most fuel-efficient cars in the US.
According to GM, the Spark will be on the streets of Europe by 2010. We’re anxiously awaiting it stateside.
