SMS Supercars announces new Camaro at 2010 Detroit Auto Show

by admin on Jan.27, 2010, under Camaro

Announced at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show, SMS Supercars has added a Camaro to its roster that already includes Ford Mustangs and Dodge Challengers. Before I continue, I want to make sure we’re clear that when I say SMS I mean the SMS that stands for it’s founder, Steve Mark Saleen, who also serves as the namesake for another brand with which he has no affiliation. Mr. Saleen has been a superstar in the world of supercars since he began tuning professionally in 1983, and his reputation for excellence has been solid since.

Saleen’s (the man, not the company eluded to above) reputation should be cemented further with the SMS 620 Camaro. The 620’s engine is alleged to give 575 hp. If this is a little weak for your tastes, you can get 715 horses if you make the leap to the 620X version. I guess the 620X could be classified as a superdupercar.  You can get yourself either version in mid-2010. And, if you can’t buy one, hopefully you’ll get the pleasure of feeling the breeze of one of these babies blowing by on a highway near you.

2010 Chevrolet Equinox – Coming up with Surprises

by admin on Apr.29, 2009, under Chevrolet Equinox

2010 Chevrolet Equinox

2010 Chevrolet Equinox

The all new 2010 Chevrolet Equinox should make Chevy lovers smile – it’s packed with new features and refinements under the hood.

Sporting an improved 21mpg city/30mpg highway and a Direct Injection 2.4L Ecotec four-cylinder paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, this midsize crossover SUV is quite novel. The performance of the 2010 Equinox can be optimized by pressing the “Eco” button – a computer automatically adjusts fuel mapping and shift points to produce extra mileage.

But fear not – this Chevy is no green wussy. For those with heavier towing needs, opt for the 3.0L 255hp V6 – capable of towing 3500lbs.

GM’s OnStar navigation and four-wheel disc brakes teamed with StabiliTrak electronic stability control and traction control are now standard for all 2010 Equinox trims. The cabin and engine compartment of the Equinox are constructed with a sound-proof material, making the ride even smoother.

The 2010 Chevy Equinox is built on an adapted Theta architecture, sharing its platform with the Saturn Vue. Prominent wheel arches and Chevrolet’s signature twin-port grille on the front fascia instantly remind us of the 2009 Chevrolet Malibu.

Inside, the new dual cockpit design, exquisite leather trim, and a host of entertainment amenities including USB audio, XM satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity and a DVD entertainment system make for the perfect luxury SUV.

Take a peek inside the car:

2010 Chevrolet Malibu – The Perfect Family Car

by admin on Apr.19, 2009, under 2010 Chevrolet Malibu

2010 Chevrolet Malibu

2010 Chevrolet Malibu

The 2010 Chevrolet Malibu is on the brink of muscle car status, featuring a 3.6L 252Hp V6. The LT and LTZ trims feature a new Direct Injection V6 automatic transmission, while the basic LS trim keeps the same 2.4L 169Hp inline 4-cylinder standard powertrain.

Even though the new Malibu shares similarities with its corporate siblings – Saturn Aura, Pontiac G6 and Saab 9-3, its refreshing exterior styling and chic interior indicate that Chevrolet is still working hard on its award-winning family car. With more passenger room, stable handling capability and GM’s signature OnStar system standard on all trims, this midsize sedan is a value-packed ride.

2010 Chevrolet Suburban – The Beast Unleashed

by admin on Apr.09, 2009, under 2010 Chevrolet Suburban

2010 Chevrolet Suburban

2010 Chevrolet Suburban

The 2010 Chevrolet Suburban is taking a page from the Escalade – moving to the Lambda platform. The change of platform will improve fuel-efficiency and lighten the Suburban’s beastly curb weight. The all new sheetmetal chassis is more robust, improved handling and providing a noticeably smoother ride.

With a longer wheelbase, the 2010 Chevy Suburban is able to meet the demand for larger passenger room and greater towing capacity. The Suburban 1500 can tow over 8000 pounds and the Suburban 2500 can handle up to 9700 pounds – nearly 5 tons!

Powertrain options include a 5.3L 310Hp V8 that can run on E85 fuel and a 6.0L 366Hp V8 paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. GM’s Active Fuel Management technology is a big step forward, shutting down unnecessary cylinders to preserve fuel.

As for creature comforts, the Suburban features a standard dual-zone climate control, rear seat AC, side assist steps, audio controls on the steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity, satellite radio and an eight-speaker audio system with CD player and an additional USB port.

Given its monstrous size, the 2010 Suburban is pretty quick. The beastly V8 can hit 60mph within 9 seconds and the electronic stability control, ABS and anti-skid system keep you right on track in adverse driving conditions.

The 2010 Chevrolet Suburban is much-improved over the 2009 model, and it worth a serious look.

2010 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid – Next Generation Hybrid

by admin on Apr.01, 2009, under 2010 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid

Malibu Hybrid

Malibu Hybrid

The all new 2010 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid sedan is the first Malibu to use a two-mode hybrid powertrain. In the past, the Malibu has used a single-mode hybrid system that combined a 4-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor under the hood.

The dual-mode hybrid system is more efficient, allowing the driver to cruise on electric power. It also implements Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) – providing additional power and reducing fuel consumption. The result is a respectable 26mpg/city and 34mpg/highway.

Design wise, the 2010 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid is equally attractive as its non-hybrid counterparts. It offers a nicely designed roomy interior with comfortable seats, automatic climate control, satellite radio and a MP3/CD player

The 2010 Chevy Malibu Hybrid still has a long way to go to match the fuel efficiency of its competitors. That being said, the Malibu hybrid is an economical choice with a moderate price tag.
